Centre for Race and Culture

The original Centre for Race and Culture (CFRAC) website suffered from a lack of structure for its content.  Navigation was difficult, and there was no set categorization for the information that was released on the site.  After reading through the organization's latest annual report, I found that the new director had created three categories for information to fall under: Leadership, Engagement, and Communication.  I used this system to structure all of the organization's current information and provided a way to categorize information in the future.
Many of the design files for the organization had been lost over the years, including a vector version of the organization's logo.  I recreated the logo with a font that had more sustainable licensing requirements for the NGO.  I organized this, along with several other graphics I created, in a network folder that was accessible to organization staff who required their use.
I created several iterations of wire frames based on staff feedback before moving to the final design
Final signed-off site design, after which, I developed the site on WordPress
In continuing consistency with navigation and content, I made sure that all initiatives corresponded with yellow, communication corresponded with red, and leadership corresponded with blue.
Initiatives, training, and education are custom post types that all feature custom fields which allow the organization to publish high quality, consistently laid-out articles.  As adding graphics for every article was likely going to be an issue, I set up several redundancies where child posts would feature a parent post featured image.  If neither existed, the post would feature a generic global image.
As the organization wished to leave course information open at all times, the events system within the website reverts to a contact form when courses are not open.
Events and courses were difficult to maintain before the new website, with registration being handled manually.  All information is now recorded on a database that is easy for staff to access.
The website is fully responsive, with consistency between content and minimal data usage being a central focus of my development process.
